Sorry I’ve been gone so long but Il Danielista is back with a bang!
I was both looking forwards to and dreading this game.
Whereas the chelsea game gave me hope the Bologna game depressed me.
Same old Roma.
So thank god for this.
This has to be the spring board that will get our season back on track.
If not I will sur ASR for the heart condition I seem to be developing every week.
On to the ratings.

DDR Rating: 7
This is not Daniele at his best.
I don’t know why but for the past few games Roma’s golden boy (Totti is our platinum boy) hasn’t been delivering the performances we’ve become used to.
I heard he was dissapointed Spalletti was in talks for the Chelsea job and that he was angry he didn’t get the holiday he wanted after his father in law was killed.
But I heard that on goal so there must be another reason.
Maybe Daniele was just tierd. Now that Er Pupone is back some of the weight is off his shoulders and he can get back to what he does best.
DDR’s performance was good; he blocked shots, helped out the defence and even, towards the end, unleashed a canon ball. His cast looked like it was bothering him a bit but he soldiered on.
I do wonder if he was jacked up on painkillers though because this didn’t look like derby De Rossi.
It looked more like day dream Daniele at times.
Had Daniele been in better form Roma would have had a much easier time. It’s a pity DDR didn’t take full advantage of the space the pig fuckers left him. They must have known he wasn’t going to be 100%.
Still 1 broken, drugged up DDR = an army of mercenaries praying for a chance to leave the cess pit they wound up playing for.

Ogni pallone che vaga davanti alla difesa giallorossa è suo. Impone tutto il suo peso a centrocampo e si esibisce in giocate di gran classe. Sulla diga che alza rimbalzano gli attacchi laziali.

De Rossi: 6.0- Passed a late fitness test to feature in the derby but failed to impress with his set piece deliveries tonight.

The cast on his arm clearly bothers him, however this does not stop him doubling up on opponents, even if he doesn’t fully take advantage of the space left open to him.

The first time both goal and La Gazzetta have given the same rating since I’ve been comparing…

The Rest of the Team

MOTM (for us anyway…)
La Bestia – 7
Initially suffered due to ledesma’s quick hooves but looked like a different player after the goal – his second against the pig farmers – unleashed the Beast and he was sanctified by the end of the game.

I refuse to change my mind about him yet but right now he is looking beastial. The change to trequartista really made a difference and he was even begining to link up with the Capitano. Good game from the Beast. Love that Roma has a player called the Beast.

Doni-7
A one point he tries his hand at dribbling, at another he saves the game pulling off two great saves on zarate and pandev.

Looked good and kept us in the game with his two dope saves. A good-Doni day. Hope this becomes the norm. One horrible moment when he jumped for the same ball as Philou but recovered well.

Pannucci-6
Doesn’t take long for zarate to attack and after initially using his experiance to keep him under control the veteran struggles.

No goal. I was dissapointed.

Mexes-6.5
Grows throughout the match especially at the end when the giallorossi box becomes an Apache Fort.

Strong showing from Philou. Was a wall at the back. I wonder about his communication with the Brazilians sometimes…

Juan-6.5
Reads the game well and anticipates some of the baby eaters moves. Some elegant interceptions even allow him to move the ball into the goat raper half.

Great game. Ice cold. Seems to sooth Philou when he plays. Some sort of pacifier effect.

Tonetto-6
pandev doesn’t look good but Tonetto fails to make many runs up the left flank.

Good game from Tonetto Carlos who will soon be the same age as Roberto so when are we going to get a replacement LB?

Perrotta-5.5
Double task – follow mauri and offer asssistance in attack. Pulls off both with diligence but his late red card affects his rating.

Great off the ball, terrible on. Vintage.

DDR-above

Brighi-6.5
Spends the game snapping at brocchi’s heels and eventually becomes a cardinal asset of the Roma midfield. Always there to help the team when they suffer.

How can you not like this guy? Hard working and carries a surprising amount of skill. Where was he last year when we decided to loose to teams like Siena? Could have won us the scudetto had he started over Pizza in a couple of key games.

Top Totti-6.5
Not at his best but its thanks to his assist that Julio scored and he provided many good ideas for the team. Wins his first derby on the pitch in 5 years.

Last time they said he was over he scored 25 goals. His comeback begins.

Vuci-6.5
In the first half he invents the only real shot on goal but carrizo falls on it. Works hard with results.

Getting a bit selfish but sometimes he has to be. Ran a lot.

Menez-5
Comes on for Totti and eats a ready made goal.
Couple of good dribbles but also some selfish moments relegate him to the role of apprentice.

Talk of him going out on loan and in his last two appearances he missed ‘ate’ two 1 on 1’s can’t be good for the boys confidence but big things to come. I promise.

Cassetti-sv
Comes on after two months of being out and has to deal with zarate.

Spalletti-7
Good idea to swith Julio’s positons. Doesn’t really push the team forwards once the gain numerical advantage but makes the right decisions.

I agree 100%.
Course Spal could have played Loria as our striker and I would agree he was a genius as long as we won.
