Its Italy & De Rossi talks Roma

By: Jake | October 12th, 2008

I have to say I never watched the recent Italy game vs. Bulgaria. My internet hasn’t been working so I didn’t get to see it, although it didn’t seem like I missed a lot. Looking at the Channel 4 website it says that De Rossi played in the middle with Gattuso and new boy Montolivo. Quite different than the normal, but it seemed to work fine (I would’a like to see Alberto get a start, speaking of him hopefully the rumours of him leaving aren’t true). The other ‘new boys’ also seemed to have pretty good games, the player ratings for the middle three from Goal.com are as follows;

Gattuso -6.0: The Calabrian hustled and did all the dirt work. Never afraid to stick his foot in. He controlled and ran the midfield as he showed everyone he is boss.

De Rossi -7.5: His passing clearly comes from the Francesco Totti school of football. He moved the ball as if he was using laser guidance. Almost every pass hit its target. Pulled the strings and almost scored a wonder free kick. A great display by the Roman.

Montolivo -6.0: The Fiorentina midfielder did his job efficiently but at times he looked out of position and he didn’t offer all the support his players needed throughout the game. However he made up for it with some clever play.

Sounds like De Rossi had another great game for Italy, almost scoring a freekick, hopefully it looked abit better than his Euro 08 freekick vs. France!

Back to the new boys De Rossi has ‘welcomed’ them to the set-up, the average age of the team has went from 108, uh or 29 its up to you to 27. With this talk of De Rossi welcoming the new generation you’d think DDR was an old man.

I found the highlights of the match on ‘The’ Youtube,

Up next for DDR and Italy is Vucinic and Co
*co as in the two Montenegro players who play for Sporting and in Football Manager are known as ‘decent’*

Mirko don’t get hurt, please… same goes for any Roma players playing for their countries, Mexes etc. And De Rossi don’t go and get a red card.

Lets get to Roma

De Rossi is still friends with Spalletti as he defended him just as any good vice, vice captain would.

He also admits some dissatisfaction between the roma players, due to a lack of Totti factor.
