Napoli, Napoli, Napoli

Just a quick post to talk about Daniele’s performance.

Pity

Well as usual he played very well.
And as usual the magic forcefield that surrounds the oppositions goal was in full force.
I won’t go into any detail because Chris will have a write up of the game soon enough but Mirko, new French boy and Alberto (and a few others) all managed to miss the goal from close.

Alberto is forgiven as he scored a goal and Menez was thrown in at the deep end but Mirko…WHY?
(Thinking back to the game Vucinic did play well in the second half so the miss is partially forgiven).
Oh and Doni was great.

Anyway back to Daniele.
With Jesus and Panucci both out Daniele had to step up and he did.
De Rossi argued with the ref, pumped up the fans and was the first player on Aquilani to celebrate.
As far as playing goes he set up Aquilani beautifully for the goal and nearly blocked Hamsik, well it looked pretty close to me.
He broke up the oppositions attacks and launched a good deal of Roma’s.
Vintage performance from Capitano Futuro.

If you won’t take my word for it here is what the ever reliable goal.com had to say about him:

Superb start to the new season for the stand in captain today. He was his brilliant self, controlling the midfield, and setting up the large majority of Roma’s attacking plays. A wonderful assist to his good friend Aquilani, capped off a great game.

They gave him an 8. Which isn’t enough of course but at least its an 8.
(goal must use some sort of lottery machine to pick the scores. There is no other way to explain Mexes, who looked nervous, getting a 7 and Okaka, who did very little, getting a 6)

All in all a great start to the season for DDR who has picked up where he left off.
Such a pity about the scoreline…

grande

Match write up will soon be up here.
How did Daniele’s good friend do? Find out here.

great chip pass and was, AGAIN, generally there to cover up pizarro’s fuckups. the shot near the end of the half that he had looked good of it wasn’t blocked on its way by a nap defender.

You gotta love all the passion he has for the Roma shirt. He always is the first to go crazy and celebrate-I love it!

DDR played a fantastic match against my beloved Napoli. He was pretty much all over the pitch for the entire match. The thing he really has to watch is the bookings though…seemed like a meaningless yellow he picked up as he bitched too long too often. Listen, it’s nitpicky because he’s such a talent. I’d just like to see less bitching from him in general.

Would love to see him really shine in the next two WC Qualifying matches
